This document is applicable to predict life of rubber sealing rings in liquid medium at working condition. 2 Normative references The following documents are referred to in the text in such a way that some or all of their content constitutes requirements of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies. *ISO 188:2011 Rubber, vulcanized or thermoplastic — Accelerated ageing and heat resistance tests *ISO 815 -1:2014 Rubber, vulcanized or thermoplastic — Determination of compression set — Part 1: At ambient or elevated temperatures *ISO 23529:2016 Rubber -- General procedures for preparing and conditioning test pieces for physical test methods GB/T 27800 -2011 Determination of the life for static sealing rubber products 3 Principle The rubber sealing rings are subjected to comprehensive effect of heat, oxygen, mechanical stress and liquid media, and aging under working conditions. The elevated temperature will accelerated aging of the rubber sealing rings, which shows chemical changes such as rubber crosslinking and degradation in the microscopic view a nd changes in physical and mechanical properties in macroscopic view. Compression set and aging time show single change during aging. In a certain temperature range, the aging mechanism of rubber sealing rings at high temperature is the same as that under the working condition. 4 Test Pieces Use the finished product or part of the finished product of the rubber seal rings for the test. The compression deformation of the rubber seal rings should be more than 0.4mm under the working condition. 5 Apparatus 5.1 Thickness gauge The instrument for measuring the thickness of dumb -bell test pieces and the axial thickness of ring test pieces shall be in accordance with that used in method A of *ISO 23529:2016.
